One sensor system, across the field and the greenhouse

Fredrik Sahlin runs Godis Grønt as a certified-organic, regenerative vegetable farm in Denmark — supplying 200 families plus restaurants directly. SoilSense answers two different irrigation questions on the same hardware.

When the weather extremes get longer, the to-do list doesn't.

Fredrik's working observation: the weather is getting more extreme. When it's dry, it's dry for longer; when it's wet, it's wet for longer. A regenerative farm — polyculture, alley-cropping with trees, holistic grazing, small grains, year-round green cover — has to be prepared for both extremes at the same time.

The constraint isn't ambition. Fredrik wants to be in touch with every field and every crop continuously. The constraint is that the field to-do list at this kind of operation is genuinely endless, and irrigation timing is the kind of decision that quietly compounds when you get it wrong.

Godis Grønt runs SoilSense in two distinct contexts. In the field, it answers the timing question — irrigate now or wait, and where on the priority list does this field sit today? In the greenhouse, where the team is physically present every day and the bottleneck is keeping moisture levels stable across labour-intensive crops, the sensors help hold a target rather than chase fluctuations.

Now I can just take out my phone and see: should I irrigate now or can I wait? Where on the priority list should I put it?

Hardware that answers two different questions.

In the field, the practical decision — irrigate now or wait — can be made from a phone in seconds with confidence, instead of holding a mental model of every plot. In the greenhouse, moisture levels stay stable rather than swinging across the day. For an operation with three explicit goals — being a wonderful place to work, building community around farming and cooking, growing regeneratively — the time freed up by data-driven irrigation decisions is exactly the time those bigger ambitions need.
